Until now, I have used Harmonic, which I was totally content with before its new 2.3 version. Harmonic uses LyricWiki to search the currently playing song, and saves it to the file. The attractive candy colors brightened up my Dashboard, which was a plus. However, I found that the new version only saves the beginning section of the lyrics and then ends with a “[...]” NO. THAT IS NOT THE WHOLE SONG, IS IT.

So today I discovered Tunes TEXT, which has become my new best friend. Cyan, its Japanese developer, has become my god. Honestly, it’s a pretty awesome widget:

• You can choose to view the album cover or not – why anyone would choose not to, I don’t know.
• You can use the Play, Pause, Next and Previous buttons to control your iTunes from the widget.
• You can choose from various colors and styles.
• You can change the font size (but not the font style, unfortunately)
• It uses more than one source for the lyrics which are all decent: Utamap (for Japanese songs: it works! Tried with Big Bang’s Japanese single, “My Heaven”), MetroLyrics and SING365.com. Plus, you can choose which source(s) to use.
• Once the lyrics are downloaded, you can edit them.
• You can search the artist and song title in the widget itself, which shows a list of the results found that you can then use.

Have I convinced you yet? Yeah, I thought so, Mister/Missy/Misyster (for you hermaphrodites out there. We should never marginalize the minority). DOWNLOAD. I might judge if you don’t. No, really though. Now go and download, install, and spice up your iTunes Library. You don’t know what you’re missing out on.
